It Begins . . .(cont'd)

Arrival . . .
The tingles increased when I got off of the plane and made it through customs and then walking out - flash - Serene! There she was, in all her glory, snapping a picture of me, in all my disheveledness! I'm sure my exuberance was stifled by my extreme tiredness but it was okay - she had enough for both of us. And, just as always, we were 'us' again. There are so few people who time doesn't distance - Glad I've got me a good one! :)
A couple bus rides home - full of chat, surrealness, and - thankfully - a little bit of sleep. Then her place to put down my stuff, shower, have a bite to eat, and we were off again. We met up with some of her friends, had something to eat, and prepared to spend the entire night out. I was definitely back in Korea: the lights, the people, brought back fond memories . . . the smells - the intensity andmix, from sewage, to chicken, to garbage, to tasty sweets overwhelmed me - reminding me of the mix andthe pungency of this land and re-teaching me how to hold my stomach!
We met up with some more of Serene's friends at a birthday bash and then after much figuring out what to do and waiting around, while I tried to maintain consciousness, we were off to a salsa bar - MACONDO. The floor was SUPER slippery and it threw me off my game, but good times were had and I had a few fun dances with some Korean guys, and taught another one (who came with us) the basic moves. After a few hours there, the next stop (at about 4 in the morning) was Jane's Groove: a cool little joint thatplayed an interestingmix of music. After a gruellingwalk in heels (for about halfan hour) I desperately needed to sit and promptly had two very drunk men trying to engage me in conversation. haha - they were both Brits, so their drunkeness was kinda funny rather than obnoxious. (It's amazing the things a British person can make seem classy!) A few minutes into their efforts a third swung on in to the mix and completely took over the scene, engaging me to the extent that within another couple of minutes the other guys accepted their defeat and took off. A very nice evening was had - great eyes, great smile, and a wickedly appealing accent! What more could a girl ask for on her first night in Korea approaching 60 hours sans sleep! :)
We finally got 'kicked' out of the club around 6 and headed home on the subway, not arriving back at Reen's until 8. I got to bed around 8:30 - making it yup - 60 hours without sleep. And that was day one!
