Gotta love the ants! Phnom Penh
June 22, 2009
We're at the hotel in Camboida now - $2 a night - not too shabby, and came with a bed full of ants - at least 50 or so under my blankets. Yeehaw! (Not to mention a bathroom door with a huge hole in it that allowed us to see each other's bums while showering until Reen came up with an ingenous solution).
After arriving tired and starving we had a nice dinner neraby (though too expensive - over $2) and as I drank the complimentary tea I felt like I was drinking health from all the antioxidants int he Green tea and death from all the potential parasites adn bugs in the ice a boy kept putting into my glass. He was so neaky it was hard to stop him. When I finally caught it in time to decline he looked SO dejected.
In looking for better accomodation we stumbled across a place with two little Cambodian boys who had been living in Australia and so spoke only English.
They were SO cute and energetic - told us all about their favourite show with mummies, werewolves, ghosts, mermen, etc. and went full out with the actions. When one of them flexed I noted his muscles. When his brother tried (though I don't think he really flexed( there was nothing to see. Looking at the lack he sheepishly lowered his arms and said "mind don't come out." Priceless!
I think I'll like it here. The people seem very friendly. :)
